I’m Melis, a Product Designer with a focus on research to create solution-driven designs and a human-centered approach.
With a background in film and event management, I know the value of understanding customer needs & creating experiences for audiences, for people. I find that it’s always about the conversation with the users that bring value to an experience and help build effective products. Once I started to learn about UX design, I knew that I could be an active player in finding solutions to problems that need solving.
In 2019 I was offered a job in Berlin to work in the music industry and in 2020, after finding out about the field of UX Design, I began exploring and found that it was a world to grow, to find useful solutions for people. That idea led me to study a task-based program with CareerFoundry, which has given me a good base on the design process and the fuel to work on other projects with an appreciation for building myself and keep learning. During the months of attending the program, I began to realize that I wanted to further my education in UI design to have a holistic experience of the whole designing phase of a product.
After the completion of the CareerFoundry program, I worked fully remotely from Berlin with a company based in Turkey called Firmasoft, where I gained experience working on real-life designs, creating a website for a meditation app, learning about CMS and how to manage it as well as working on competitive research.
Having gained baseline knowledge about UX/UI at Firmasoft I decided to apply to a hybrid internship at Delivery Hero, an online food ordering company based in Berlin. This was an immensely valuable experience in terms of working with developers, other designers, researchers, and product managers.
In addition to working on my personal projects, I like to read articles about UX Design on Medium, browse UI tutorials from time to time, and read books on the topic. Apart from design, I am trying to teach myself a bit of guitar, and enjoy cycling on my off times.
